Navidad

Christmas this year didnt feel like christmas at all, the way im used to it anyways, but it was still alot of fun! Instead of christmas stories and cookies on christmas eve there was a feast and music and dancing and people laughing a little to hard at things (mostly from the traditional cider "sin alcohol" but im not to sure about that....) Going to bed all cozy and warm excited for the presents in the morning, was cheers and bombs they try to call fire works at midnight, one "fire work" didnt go off the way it was supposed to and blew to shreds the brick that was holding it in place, just to let you get a feel for what they are like here. And finally sweet christmas dreams and knowing santa was comming was replaced with dancing through the night in the local club and walking home during the beautiful sunrise. Christmas day was not presents and too much stocking candy and watching steff do her yearly breaking the chocolate orange on the forehead trick, but recovering from the nights festivities and eating pan dulce and ensalada de frutas. Later that day we enjoyed a nice asado and went swimming in the mountains and ended the day by talking and being able to see my family through skype. It was a very merry holiday that i can only think of as navidad, because for now, until it feels like christmas, they are too very differnt holidays, but i loved it non the less.

ARGENTINA

The best advice you could ever get before going to argentina

You will be offered yerba mate. It looks like a cup used to smoke weed but dont worry, not a drug, just a hazard to your tounge. It is a herbal tea they drink that is very, VERY hot. Ive already burnt my tounge at least 4 times. Tastes good, but doesnt feel good. The trick is to barely put your lips around the straw and suck up the tea with a gap of cold air to hopefully tame the fire. That way you look like you can handle it at least and hope your watery eyes dont give you away.

How Could I Forget?!

I forgot to blog about my beautiful sofi's blessing! Lets just pretend that it happened last sunday... I made her dress and im pretty proud of how it turned out, only a few beads came of during the course of the day. The blessing was done in our spanish ward and for those of you who didnt get a translation device, it was really nice gaston did a good job! Afterwards we went to a park and had lunch and i had alot of fun! There were ice fights and laughing and nico threw up from too much fun and only 1 person stepped in it. Thanks you to everyone who came and shared the special day with us!

Halloween/birthday/goingaway party

Probably the best birthday party i have ever had. I have always wanted to do a halloween party and it was so much fun planning and decorating with my sister in law. I was happy that almost everyone i invited came and i got a chance see everyone again before i leave. The food was great, the costumes were great and i hope everyone had as much fun as i did! P-O-P-S-I-C-L-E

So in order to help nico talk gaston and me have been saying words to him and then showing him what to do in order to understand its meaning. Nico loves popsicles. So we would ask him if he wants a popsicle and then take him to the freezer, grab him one, and then take him to his little chair to eat it. However, now whenever we say popsicle, he squeels in excitement and then runs to his little chair and waits patiently and casual for his popsicle. Not exactly what we want but it is so cute i want to die every time he does it.

Gaston and me finally got a chance to go out by OURSELVES on a date! We went to boondocks and it was so much fun!

We played real life halo in the laser tag arena,

i beat him in the action packed go carts race,

we squirted strangers while on the bumperboats and laughed like crazy when they got pissed,

we shared a coconut shaved ice that cut our tounge when we tried to lick it,

we played a round of mini golf and gaston got squirted in the face with the tiki man and then it blew out fire, we both screamed and everyone laughed,

and then finally we spent all our tokens in the arcade winning tickets to get a toy for nico.

It was the most fun ive had in a really long time and i loved getting to spend alone time with my man!

Oh me

I learned something new today, and i felt like a fool in the process. We went to betos for some food and i wanted some taquitos. I couldnt find them on the menu and gaston kept telling me they were there under the tacos section. I was getting irritated cause i still couldnt find them and then i realized, taquitos means "little tacos" in spanish. So hopeing gaston didnt see my embarassed face and to make it look like i new that already i just told him none of them sounded good and hurried and ordered something else that turned out to be really sick.

Exploring the mind of a one year old

Do one year olds know how to fake laugh? Im pretty sure mine does, sad to think we learn at such a young age that in order to make people happy, we sometimes have to fake laugh no matter how painful it is. Even more sad to realize that my son does not genuinely think my wierd faces and sounds are funny.

5:30a.m.- Contractions begin and i get excited as anticipate the baby being born anytime, but i know i still have alot of work and time until then.

12:30p.m. -Labor is beginning to get more intense as i do everything in the book to help things progress

3:30 p.m.- Off to the pool as a last attempt to help body relax and make the labor progress quicker

4:00 p.m. - Ok, now pain is getting pretty intense, timing the contractions and getting ready to leave for the hospital.

5:00 pm- Ok now this really hurts, call dad to have someone pick up nico so we can go to the hospital

6:30p.m.- Knock at the door, dawns here, i feel a pop and warm liquid down my legs and water breaks the second we open the door. TIME TOO GO!!

7:00p.m.- On the way too the hospital, water still comming out, but why is it so bloody? I start to get scared.

7:15p.m.- Checked in too the hospital, nurse is concerned, there shouldnt be that much blood... nurse leaves the room and i tell gaston to pray for us to be ok

7:20p.m.- Too much blood is still comming out, Dr tells me to get ready for a immediate c-section,

7:25p.m.-Rushed too the operating room and prepped for surgury, the butterflies in my stomache seem to be making it all the way up to my heart, i keep praying for things to be ok.

surgury begins,

7:30p.m. Everything is rushed and no one has the time to tell me whats going on.

7:49p.m. I hear my baby at last. Sophie is here. Tears of joy and relief fill my eyes. I love her so much already. But why is she crying like that? someone please talk to me!

7:50p.m.- i hear them saying her measurements, 8 pounds? wow i knew she was going to be big, 19 in? same as nico, i wonder if she is doomed to be short as well, alot of hair? that explains the heart burn. i cant wait to see her, why wont they show her too me?

8:00p.m.- i finally see my little angel, so cute and looks like her daddy, my arms ache to hold her but i only get a glimps of her before she is rushed to be put on oxygen somewhere in the hospital. might as well be a different planet.

8:15p.m.- Finally ready to be taken to my room, im feeling really dizzy and can barely focus on what the dr is saying. I lost alot of blood. he had never seen the placenta ripping off that bad before, if we had waited any longer, me and my baby would have been in real trouble. maybe even not survived. I knew there was someone there watching over us.

8:30p.m.-11:00p.m. When will the shaking stop? why am i still so dizzy, i keep asking for my baby but no one seems to hear me. Im glad to have my mom and my husband and becky there with me to help me stay calm.

11:00p.m. - i finally get to meet my sophie. I am so happy to finally have her in my arms and i am overwelmed with love for my new daughter. I check her over to make sure everything is good and am relieved to find that she is just perfect after such a dramatic entrance into this world.

I got to see my little girl today on a 3D ultrasound! It was so fun! i got to see her cute little face and i could see her yawning and playing with her tiny hands it was so cute! i am SO sad gaston was not here to see her with me, this is the first dr visit he didnt go with me too and i hate that we didnt get to share the experience of seeing our little baby girl before she even leaves the belly.

Finding someone elses used breast pad on my bed. Maybe next time leave a tampon, or maybe even a used tissue. I would love that. Thanks.

Dia de la madre

Today was an awesome mothers day!!! Gaston braught me breakfast in bed and spoiled me with alot of presents and flowers. We went to church and made it through most of it, then went and had lunch in a park. After that we came home and had some pie and ice cream and me and gaston got some alone time to cuddle and watch a chick flick he rented for me. It was a nice day with my boys and i couldnt be happier to be a mom, especially since i get a day all to myself besides my birthday to be pampered and appreciated :)

Birthday boy

Today was nicos 1st birthday party! It was really fun to have all of our family over for a bbq and he got alot of really fun presents. His favorite was these little square things that you get wet and they turn into a washcloth. He wouldnt let anyone touch them or take them from him it was really funny. It was also fun to watch him eat his cake and of course make a huge mess! It was fun putting the whole party together and I had alot of fun with everyone and now im going to go pass out.

Im convinced i have swine flu. Been coughing alot the past few days. Doctor says its just because of my extreme heartburn. But i watch too much tv and have too much imagination so i still remain skeptical. If i die, blame the pigs.
